The Flathead County Sheriff's Office
was called at 2:30 a.m. Monday when someone reported a Chevy truck stuck in the Flathead River at the Old Steel Bridge. When asked whether the driver needed help, he reportedly responded by saying, "You want to hear something funny?" and fired three shots at the witnesses. Not finding that funny, they called for help. The truck's front end was submerged and the engine was running when officers arrived and arrested the 34-year-old driver.
Vehicles on West Reserve Drive were broken into.
A resident off of U.S. 2 near Columbia Falls called for help when an overturned canoe floated past the house on the Flathead River, followed by a blue life jacket. Next came a man running up to the house, saying the canoe belongs to his friend. It took awhile for officials to be sure there were no other people in the canoe. The man was cold and wet, and outpaced by the empty vessel, which continued down the river.
A man who was shooting near the House of Mystery spooked customers there. He agreed to stop.
A horse and a mule Sunday hoofed it down Conrad Drive before their owner's son came and collected them.
An unwelcome ex-husband appeared at a home on Meadow Lake Boulevard three times between 3 and 4 a.m. before officers caught up with him and ticketed him.
A deputy counseled a woman about her fears that she has sick sheep that might infect her and wipe out an entire flock.
A man reported his suspicions that someone is watching his house.
No one appeared to have been hurt after a vehicle was found down an embankment on Browns Meadow Road.
