Charlotte Gene Ebeltoft, 96, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell. She was born on Oct. 2, 1910, in Lake Park, Minn., to Charles N. and Charlotte (Myhre) Ebeltoft. She was baptized by her grandfather, Rev. John H. Myhre of Cormorout Lake, Minn.

Charlotte was raised with five brothers whom she dearly loved. With these brothers she learned many sports and enjoyed the woods and outdoor activities. As a youth she competed in many competitive sports.

Charlotte graduated from high school in North Dakota and attended Dickinson St. Teacher's College. She earned her degree from Western Montana College in Dillon, and taught for most of her life. She was hired by Boeing in June of 1941 and continued until 1946. She then came directly to Kalispell to teach.

In 1964-65 Charlotte was granted a leave of absence and taught a year in Nagoya, Japan. This was a gift. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church serving on Altar Guild, Faith Circle, Bethlehem Quilters and a term on the Church Council. Her church was of great importance.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.

Charlotte is survived by a nephew, Allen Ebeltoft, and wife, Nancy, of Bigfork; niece, Phyllis Kay Casperson, and her husband, Bob, of Libby; nephew, Paul F. Ebeltoft Jr., of Dickinson, N.D.; nephew, William Ebeltoft, of Columbia Falls, her only godchild; Pastor Ladd G. Bjorneby of Cheney, Wash.; and a number of nieces and nephews survive elsewhere.

Memorial services for Charlotte will be held on at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

The family suggests that memorials be sent to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church or to the Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp, both at 603 S. Main Street, Kalispell, MT, 59901; or to the charity of choice.

Johnson Mortuary & Crematory is caring for Charlotte's family.
