Barbara Jean (Bangeman) "Barbie" Haglund passed away peacefully at her home in Spokane, Wash., on Nov. 4, 2006, after a battle with cancer. Barbie was born in Kalispell on April 4, 1929, to Dan and Gretchen (Lighthall) Bangeman, and grew up in Somers on Flathead Lake. She graduated from Flathead High School. She then attended the University of Montana, where she met her loving husband, Art. They raised two children, Kathy and Jim.

Through Art's work at Kaiser, they lived in Opportunity, Wash., Ravenswood, W.V., Lafayette, Calif., Sylvania, Ohio, and finally retired back in Spokane for the past 21 years. Lately, they had spent their winters in Palm Desert, Calif.

Over the years Barbie volunteered her time to many organizations, including the Ravenswood Schools, Kaiser Hospital in Walnut Creek, Calif., and Sacred Heart Hospital and Deaconess Hospital in Spokane.

She enjoyed golfing, entertaining, traveling and was a devoted Seattle Mariners and Seahawks fan.

Most of all, she was a loving and caring wife and mother and a friend to many. She valued her family and friendships greatly and her warm smile will be missed by many.

She is survived by her husband, Art, of 56 years; their daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Charlie Watson, of Spokane; their son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Patty Haglund, of Olympia, Wash.; two grandchildren, Emily Watson of Whittier, Calif., and Sam Haglund of Olympia; her brother, Dan Bangeman, of Somers; and three nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for all your love and support.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Manito Presbyterian Church, 401 E. 30th Ave., in Spokane.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
