Grace Marie Doss Johnson, 86

Grace Marie Doss Johnson, 86, passed away Tuesday November 21, 2006, at Heritage Place in Kalispell after enduring many of life's trials, tragedies and triumphs. She was born Aug. 17, 1920, to John and Emma Doss in Morris, Ill. Grace was the last of 12 children. She completed all 12 grades in Morris.

She married Orville Sanford Johnson on Feb. 3, 1940. Grace then started working selling Wear-ever pots and pans while working at a Dupont munitions factory during World War II. She held many different types of jobs. She was the first secretary for the Morris Chamber of Commerce, construction secretary for Northern Petro-chemical, and vice president of Morris Savings and Loan.

She began her religious training as a Methodist and converted to Lutheran when she married Orville and had been active ever since. She was a member of Bethlehem and Peace Lutheran Churches in Morris and at Northridge Lutheran in Kalispell.

Grace was well known for her charity, sense of wit and humor.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Orville; daughter, Rebecca; brothers Clair, Cecil, Arthur and Owen; and sisters, Carrie, Lillian, Jean, Isabel, Dorothy, Helen and Alice.

Grace is survived by her son, Steven, and wife, Elsie; grandsons, Tyler and Nicholas; nephews, Owen Doss and Tom Turner; and a niece, Judy Smith; as well as many grand-nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday Nov. 25, at Northridge Lutheran Church, with a reception following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to the CAN Scholarship at Heritage Place, 171 Heritage Way, Kalispell, Montana 59901.
