Ferdas, Roberts, Dedrick named to all-state volleyball squad

Ashley Ferda and Courtney Ferda, both of Whitefish, were named to the Northwestern A All-Conference and Class A All-State teams in volleyball.

Ashley Ferda is a 5-foot-6 junior outside hitter and Courtney Ferda is a 5-6 senior middle hitter. Both athletes were instrumental in helping Whitefish

capture its third-straight state championship earlier this month in Bozeman.

Also named to the Northwestern A conference and All-State teams were 5-10 senior outside hitter Amy Roberts of Eureka and 5-6 junior outside hitter Laice Dedrick of Libby.

Joining the Ferdas, Roberts and Dedrick on the Northwestern A All-Conference first team were Karen Byrns, a 5-10 senior middle hitter, from Libby and Angela Schuman, a 5-8 senior setter, from Polson.

On the second all-conference team were: Whitefish's Kali Schmidt, senior, setter, and Kaitlin O'Leary, senior, outside hitter; Columbia Falls' Monica Burns, senior, middle hitter, and Callie Spencer, senior, outside hitter; Bigfork's Alyssa Fierro, junior, middle hitter; and Eureka's Megan Hannay, junior, setter.

Honorable mention all-conference players were: Eureka's April Paden, senior, libero; Libby's Shelby Barton, junior, setter; and Bigfork's Avery Vogel, junior, setter/outside hitter.
