Helen A. Munter, 92, of Los Altos Calif., 'entered into rest' on Nov. 21, 2006. She was preceded in death in 1990 by her husband of 55 years, Russell.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan, and son-in-law, Richard Moss, of Los Altos; granddaughter, Anja Hart, and great-grandsons, Jake and Nate Hart, of Piedmont Calif.; and her sister, Bernice Mattson of Casselton, N.D.

Helen was born in Creighton, Neb., and moved to Creston with her parents, Robert and Anna Prischmann, about 1930.

She married Russell Munter in 1934, and they lived first on the Munter family farm in Demarsville, and later in Kalispell. Her working career included selling real estate, working in various departments at the Kalispell Mercantile, and managing Martins Clothing Store on Main Street.

During World War II she was a volunteer plane spotter. In the 1970s she was chef for the Holiday Inn Resort on Flathead Lake, and later managed the Elks Rest Resort on the lake for two summers.

She was a life member of the Lady Elks, and volunteered many hours of landscape care and organizing duplicate bridge games. A member of the American Contract Bridge League, she always said her love of bridge kept her young.

In her younger days, she was an avid fisherman, camper and huckleberry picker.

She loved to entertain friends in her home and on the back patio, and her cinnamon rolls, dill pickles and pan-fried chicken were legendary. When she finally had to leave her little home on Second Avenue East in the summer of 2005, she had her going-away breakfast with the Sykes' bunch, a favorite spot for her and her friends.

Helen was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother ('G-G'). She will be in our hearts, and those of her lifelong friends, forever.

A celebration of life will be held in Kalispell in the summer of 2007, and interment will be alongside her husband at the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
