Kalispell police officer Troy Holt resigned Tuesday. He had been placed on paid administrative leave in May - when he was accused of sexual assault - and was suspended without pay Aug. 10. His resignation was accepted without public comment by police Chief Frank Garner.

Holt still faces six criminal charges related to the allegations. He is charged with unlawful restraint, three counts of assault and two counts of sexual assault.

He is accused of improprieties by women with whom he worked as an associate pastor at Glacier Mountain Fellowship. The unlawful restraint charge relates to a woman's accusation that after she complained about his behavior, he used his patrol car to pull her over and tell her to "shut her mouth."

Kalispell police conducted an investigation into whether Holt's actions violated the department's policies. Before a determination was made official, Holt resigned.

The criminal allegations are being investigated by the Flathead County Sheriff's Office.
