Albert E. Harvey, 86

Albert E. Harvey, 86, passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, in Kalispell.

Albert was born Nov. 11, 1919, in Wewela, S.D. He was raised in and graduated from high school in South Dakota.

In 1938, he married Verle WIlliams. The lived on his brother-in-law's farm and worked for him until Verle was diagnosed with TB. They had three children at the time, and because of her illness the children went to live with other relatives while Albert stayed with Verle in the sanitorium in Pringle, S.D. While there, Albert worked at a local dairy, and in 1955 they moved to the Ferndale area with four children, a two-wheel trailer and $600 to their names. In 1957, they moved to the Mountain Brook area. Verle passed away in 1988.

In 1992, Albert married Magdalene "Maggie" Finneman, whom he had known for more than 40 years. They lived on the same property until 2005, when they moved to Wel-Life in Kalispell.

Albert worked for Broder saw mill for 11 years in the valley, until becoming a sawyer for Royal Logging. He worked there until his retirement. The love of his life next to Maggie was bowling. He also enjoyed gardening, farming and woodworking.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Verle; and daughter, Myrna.

He is survived by his wife, Maggie; children, Sharon Wang Bristow and husband, Jerry, of Kalispell, Jim Harvey and wife, Shirley, of Columbia Falls, and Mike Harvey of Kalispell; stepchildren, Sharon White and husband, Colin, and Juanita Bays, all of Kalispell; sister, Rene and husband, Ralph Roby, of North Dakota; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Albert will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at Mountain View Mennonite Church.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Home Options Hospice, 175 Commons Loop, Suite 100, Kalispell, MT 59901; or to the Mountain View Mennonite Church, 795 Mennonite Road, Kalispell, MT 59901.
