The Flathead Valley Sheriff's Office dealt with the dog days of autumn,

referring numerous calls to the animal warden. Among them were reports of a dog shot on U.S. 2, a vicious dog on Bison Drive, a dog chasing chickens on Two Mile Drive, a dog that was hit by a car on U.S. 2, a dead dog on U.S. 93 South, chicken-killing poodles on Cameron Lane and a vicious stray on Bear Trail.

A game warden was notified of a fawn with its head stuck in a plastic carton at Echo Lake.

Deputies were called about a 16-year-old boy who poked a hole in a couch with a knife, but his mother decided not to pursue charges.

A trespasser was reported on Rufenach Lane.

An officer had a word with youths who were jumping on the goal post at Bigfork High School. There was a report of five other youths who were skateboarding on Eagle Ridge Lane, which is posted, "No skateboarding." They just wanted to take pictures of themselves in front of the sign.

An outboard motor was stolen from a garage on Wagner Lane.

A couple's disagreement at Alpine Inn attracted law enforcement.

Someone repossessing tires at Backwoods Trailer Court was greeted by a man with a tire iron. An officer suggested she stop her repo work for the night.

Trash that blew all over near the Old Steel Bridge was traced to the address on some mail, and the resident was called about picking it up.

Glass was broken in the front door of Title Cash, and a small amount of cash was taken from the till.

At Evergreen School, a deputy was summoned to control football-fan behavior.

A boat was vandalized and its stereo was stolen from Lakeside Boulevard. Someone fired a shotgun at a door and GPS cable at the cell tower on Desert Mountain.
