They were born to be bandits

| October 12, 2006 1:00 AM

Kalispell police took a call about the theft of three fish and 20 gallons of water from a pond Wednesday on Hawthorne Avenue. The homeowner said there was video of the culprits. There was, and the intruders were stealthy and masked. They were raccoons.

A lot happened on Teal Drive. It began with a man on a dirt bike who responded to a request to slow down by saying a bad word and flipping a wheelie all the way down the street. Then came some drag racing that ended with one driver being cited. Another vehicle was ticketed for being parked with the driver's door to the curb Tuesday. On Wednesday came a report that the same vehicle was leaking oil and gas into the street.

Other motorized problems that drove officers to respond included a speeding vehicle going the wrong way on one-way Third Avenue East, and a semi-truck driver who left his vehicle on U.S. 93 near Meridian Road after he suffered from some antifreezer burn.

At about 2 a.m., a neighbor banged on a man's front door three times and yelled at him. At 4 a.m., loud men outside disturbed someone at the Days Inn.

Officers counseled a couple involved in a domestic disturbance at the Outlaw Inn.
