Alberta 'Bert' Cuffe, 101

Alberta "Bert" Cuffe, 101, a longtime Whitefish resident, passed away Oct. 8, 2006, at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Whitefish, of natural causes. She was born June 6, 1905, the daughter of James and Estella Adams.

She graduated from Flathead High School in 1925 and taught school at Helena Flats. Later that year she married Theodore M. Cuffe and moved to Whitefish. Bert was employed at several businesses, such as Hetrick Grocery, Quick Shoes and Slushers Bakery.

Bert volunteered her time at St. Charles Catholic Church, Whitefish Food Bank, Golden Agers, the Moose Lodge and Royal Neighbors. She loved to play cards, bingo and bowling. She was always cheerful and quietly supported her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted; a granddaughter, Margaret; and a great-grandson, Kimberly.

She is survived by a son, James, and his wife Beverly, of Columbia Falls; grandchildren, Patricia Harmon, of Whitefish, Theodore and Jacque Cuffe, of Whitefish, Mitchell and wife Lanett Cuffe, of Columbia Falls; 12 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Whitefish with Rev. Pat Patton as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at the Whitefish Cemetery.
