Kalispell Fire Department quickly extinguished a house fire in the 1000 block of Fifth Avenue East Friday at about 10:20 a.m. No one was hurt. Assistant Chief Brent Christopherson said it appears the fire started between a fireplace insert and a masonry chimney. There was damage to the living room, the attic and the fireplace area. The American Red Cross was called to help the family.

The department later burned a structure near Four Mile Drive as a training exercise.

West Valley Fire Department was called to a chimney fire on Prairie View Road Thursday.

Whitefish Ambulance was called for a cameraman with an injured eye during television taping on Central and Railway.

Kalispell Fire Department's ambulance went to Stillwater Christian School Friday when a 16-year-old boy was hurt on the soccer field. He went to the hospital.
