The Flathead County Sheriff's Office was busy with reports of improper shooting
as hunting season opened Sunday. Complaints came from Browns Meadow Road, Church Drive, and Lake Blaine Road. On Star Meadow Road, three people who arrived in a blue truck with a ladder rack started shooting .22-caliber weapons in all directions. When a man told them to stop, they fired off a couple of rounds in his direction before leaving. At Whitetail Meadows, a hunter said a man took the hunter's rifle off the ground, loaded a round, and pointed the weapon at him. He was accidentally crossing private property at the time, he said.
There was a report of a man who was too drunk to drive from the Northshore Bowling Alley. Someone took his keys and reported that the man was going to sleep in his vehicle. He was told to call back if there was more trouble. There was. The man fell and cut his chin. He was given a ride home. The same result happened for a man seen in a ditch near the airport Sunday.

A smoke detector was activated when a vehicle hit the Les Schwab building in Evergreen. It may have been a stolen Jeep. It was gone when deputies arrived.
