When it comes to state success in soccer, nobody does it better than the Flathead Valley.
Whitefish cleaned up in Class A action this weekend, winning both the boys and girls championships on enemy soil.
Flathead's boys and girls were also successful road warriors.
The Braves (13-2) defended their title in Helena with a 1-0 shootout win over Bozeman while the Bravettes (12-3-1) settled for a third-place finish by stopping Billings Senior 2-1 in overtime.
Scoring for the Bravettes were Megan O'Connell and Maddey Frey.
The Whitefish boys capped a perfect season with their 1-0 triumph over Hamilton in overtime. The lone goal came in the first of two 10-minute overtime periods.
Scoring was Alex Konopatzke on a 35-yard bullet shot.
The Bulldogs finished with a 15-0 record.
The Whitefish girls fell behind for the second straight week, but rebounded with a 3-1 victory at Billings Central. The Lady Bulldogs completed their season with a 13-2 record. They were 13-1 versus Class A competition.
The lone Class A loss was ironically to Billings Central in a non-conference matchup earlier in the season.
The WHS girls are also the first Class A team to win two state championships.
Kaitlyn Sleichter and Kylee Smith both scored a goal and assisted on another for Whitefish. Carly Lengstorf scored the final goal for Whitefish.
