Amasa Morse 'Amos' Bowles II, 72

Amasa Morse Bowles II, "Amos," passed away peacefully in his home in Kalispell on Oct. 23, 2006.

Amos was born June 13, 1934, in Santa Rosa, Calif., to Dr. and Mrs. Amasa M. Bowles. He attended elementary school in Santa Rosa and then continued on and graduated from Carlsbad Military Academy in California.

Amos earned the rank of Eagle Scout in his early teenage years. He attended the University of Oregon, and then served in the U.S. Army and was discharged with honors. He returned to California and graduated from Humboldt State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration.

Amos was an entrepreneur, owning and operating Amos' Christmas Tree Lots, Pay N Snak Candy, and Redwood Coffee Service in California, before moving to Montana.

Amos loved hunting, fishing, boating, and being with his family. He was known for his honesty, positive thinking, and his outrageous humor. He was a genuine gentleman.

Amos was a member and past-president of the Aahmes Shrine Club in Eureka, Calif., where he was also the Sultan of the Band. After moving to Kalispell, he was a member of the Algeria Shrine Club.

He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife of 49 years, Anne; his brother and sister-in-law, Seawell and Elizabeth Bowles, of Hayward, Calif.; his daughter and fiance, Julianna Lerner and Daryl Crow; grandchildren, Tasha and husband, Justin Olson, Kristina Amundson of Kalispell, Michael and Kevin Bowles of Murphy, Calif., and Jennifer and Tanner Crow; great-grandchildren, J.T. and Logan Olson, Caleb and Ethan Amundson of Kalispell; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Gordon and Jo Ann Nelson.

Amos was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Amasa M. Bowles and Dorothy Bowles; and his son, Michael H. Bowles.

Cremation took place Oct. 25 at Buffalo Hills Mortuary.

A celebration of life was held Friday, Oct. 27, in the family home.
