| September 1, 2006 1:00 AM

Polson at Stevensville, 7 p.m.

It's a battle of the early-season unbeatens with two proven offenses. One is a passing team, the other is a running team.

Stevensville quarterback Bridger Chambers threw for 300 yards and six touchdowns last week against Eureka in a 42-7 victory.

Polson trampled for 276 rushing yards last Friday against Hamilton in a 37-6 victory. Bryce Picard has 89 rushing yards for the Pirates, Ted Morigeau has 86, Pat Dellwo has 41 and Joe Andrews has 29.

The Yellowjackets were picked to finish the Southwestern A in fifth place. Polson was picked to repeat as Northwestern A champs.

Libby at Hamilton, 7 p.m.

Fresh off shutting out the state runner ups, the Loggers will go after a Hamilton team that Polson ran all over last week.

The outcome here could be a good measuring stick for next weekend's matchup between Northwestern A's top teams.

Quarterbacks Kyle Baker and Joel Fuller, along with fullback Jake Graham, lead the charge for the Loggers offense. Then it's Graham and Baker at defensive end that sets the tone on defense.

Corvallis at Whitefish, 7 p.m.

The unbeaten Bulldogs will try to figure out a way to compliment running back Luke Fennelly, who rushed for 203 yards last weekend, on offense after scoring only one touchdown last week in a 9-7 victory over Havre.

Corvallis is looking for not only its first victory of the season, but its first points after being shut out by Columbia Falls last weekend. The Blue Devils won only one game last year and are picked to finish last in the Southwestern A by every league coach.

Browning atColumbia Falls, 7 p.m.

Fresh of their first victory in four years, the Indians are coming to Columbia Falls.

The Wildcats are 1-0 on the season, but haven't scored a touchdown on offense yet. They beat Corvallis, 16-0, last week thanks to a Steve McNulty kickoff return for a touchdown and a Michael Hader interception return for a touchdown.

Browning beat Ronan last week by scoring a touchdown and kicking the extra point in the game's final minute for a 7-6 victory.

High River at Eureka, 7 p.m.

This could be a nice break for the Lions from their new Northwestern A schedule.

High River, Alberta, is a Canadian town of about 10,000 people 55 kilometers south of Calgary. The high school is called Highwood. Their mascot is the Mustangs.

As for the Lions, they're trying to get off the schneid. They were held to minus-17 yards rushing last week against Stevi. Quarterback Zach Richter passed for 114 yards, including a 69-yard touchdown.Tonight on the Gridiron
