Antique tractor show rolls this weekend

The Northwest Antique Power Association's 13th annual Antique Engine and Tractor Show and Threshing Bee gets under way today and Sunday.

Stationary engines, a sawmill, and classic and antique tractors are on display, along with demonstrations of threshing, draft horse and mule plowing, shingle making, and miniature-railroad rides, tractor contests, crafts, entertainment, and a thresher's lunch.

Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today; and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5.

The event is at Olsen Pioneer Park near Columbia Falls. Turn east of U.S. 2 at mile marker 129.9 onto Pioneer Road. Drive a half mile to Helena Flats Road. RV parking is available.

Sidewalk artists compete in Bigfork

Join Bigfork's Sidewalk Art Contest from 9 a.m. to noon today. Artists of all ages and abilities are welcome, with prizes awarded in several categories. All entrants will receive their chalk and vouchers for breakfast and lunch courtesy of Flathead Bank.

Friendship House hosts pig roast today

The Board of Directors of Friendship House has its 17th annual Pig Roast and Silent Auction from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the basement of the Eagles, 37 First St. W., in Kalispell.

The menu includes roasted pig, baked potatoes, baked beans, cole slaw, fruit salad, rolls and ice cream.

Entertainment will be provided by The Fiddling Friends and Reggie Houston at the piano.

The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12.

Families welcome at Dayton Daze

Bring the family to the west shore of Flathead Lake for the 15th annual Dayton Daze today at the Idle Spur.

Activities including sailboat rides from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the Dayton Ladies Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dayton Church serves lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Mission Mountain Winery hosts a wine tasting from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The parade gets under way at 3 p.m., and a pig roast is at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults, and $5 children 12 and younger.

Proceeds benefit the Chief Cliff Volunteer Fire Department.

Petco hosts hamster races today at 2 p.m.

Get your hamster ready to roll at Petco's Hamster Ball Derby at 2 p.m. today. Warm-up rounds begin at 1:30 p.m.

Using hamster balls, race your hamsters down an 8-foot track.

Prizes will be awarded, and all participants will receive certificates of participation.

Participants need their own hamsters and hamster balls to participate.

Registration is free. Spectators are welcome.
