Fire crews dispatched

Flathead County Sheriff's Office dispatched fire crews to the Smith Valley area Tuesday morning

for what turned out to be the sun reflecting off a woman's window, making her believe there was a fire in the trees.

The fire reported near Marion Wednesday turned out to be a dust cloud.

There were reports of loose cows and horses on roads, but it was loose turkeys that caused a disturbance on Montana 40. There, a driver said he stopped to let the birds cross the road, but hit and killed one. Another driver believed the first driver committed deliberate turkicide and threw the turkey, striking the first driver in the face. An altercation ensued. In the end, neither wanted to pursue charges.

In other turkey news, a Birch Grove Road resident complained that someone abandoned domesticated turkeys on her property. The owner was found and agreed to pick up the abandoned butterballs.

Clothes and furniture presented other challenges. On U.S. 2, a woman reported a man was throwing out her clothes. A bloody shirt, pants and shoes were found behind Kmart.

On North Hilltop Road, a man took out his anger on some furniture. A lawn chair was stolen on Big Mountain Road, where this is apparently an on-going problem.

The front door of a home was smashed in on Columbia Meadows Road.

On Three Mile Drive a woman yelled at a man pointing a gun at a deer and was stunned when he pointed it at her. A motorcyclist escaped serious injury in a collision with a deer on U.S. 2.

An assault was reported on Smith Lake Road.

A man reported that he had run a screwdriver through his hand in Evergreen, but refused medical attention.

A family moved into a home on Lore Lake Road four days ago and caused a disturbance Wednesday. A teenager at Snowshoe Flats reported that his mother bit and slapped him and threw a bottle at him. She decided to go to a motel for the night.

A jogger said someone in a vehicle threw fireworks at him near Underpass Hill.

A woman showed up at the sheriff's office Wednesday, wondering about her Swiss lottery winnings.

A woman received a phone call from someone who said he had her dog and would return it in a day or two, but never did.
