The Flathead County Sheriff's Office is investigating a rape case involving an elderly Martin City woman.

The woman, 86, reported that two men and a large black dog entered her room between 3 and 4 a.m. Saturday. The woman's memory is less clear on what happened after that, Flathead County Sheriff's detective Jeanne Landis said.

But an examination conducted at Kalispell Regional Medical Center produced evidence that the woman had been sexually assaulted, Landis said.

One suspect has been described as having a stocky build, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, wearing a white shirt and dark pants.

There have been at least two other recent sexual assault cases, involving young women attacked by a stranger, in the Flathead Valley. One was on Zimmerman Road on the east side of Kalispell and the other was on Talbot Road in Columbia Falls.

"We've had sexual assaults where the attacker is a stranger, and those are less common" than cases where the victim knows the assailant, Landis said.

Landis urges anybody with information on any of the cases to contact her at 758-5600, or anonymous information can be directed to Crimestoppers at 752-TIPS.
