Douglas Morgan Gelvick, 40

Douglas Morgan Gelvick, 40, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007, as the result of an automobile accident. Doug was born July 20, 1966, in Great Falls to Stanley and Judy Cahill Gelvick.

He graduated from Charles M. Russell High School in Great Falls in 1984, where he played center for the football team. After high school, he attended North Dakota State University on a hockey scholarship. He graduated from the University of Montana in 1990.

Doug married Trina Drake on July 5, 1993, in Missoula.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1988 until 1994. Doug was working as an independent contractor and custom-home builder here in the Flathead Valley with Wayne and Jake Benson, and Mark Gunderson. He was working on a home for Laura and Al Raddatz at the time of his death.

Doug loved fishing, hunting, camping and hockey. He loved watching his children play basketball and baseball. He enjoyed playing video games with his children and his wife. He loved teasing and playing with his children and his best friend in life, his wife, Trina.

Doug had won numerous best defense and MVP awards while playing youth hockey in tournaments. His family and their interests in life were his main activities. He put nothing in life before his time and love for them.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stan Gelvick; and his grandparents, Leslie Cahill and Edna Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Trina, of Kalispell; his mother, Judy Gelvick; children, Drew Morgan Gelvick, Terin Lee Gelvick and Matthew Steven Gelvick; sister, Sharon, and Joel Franjevic of Helena; sister-in-law, Betty Drake, of Kalispell; father-in-law, Steve Drake, and mother-in-law, Susanne Taft.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home.

The family request memorials in Doug's name be given to the American Cancer Society, Organ Donor Bank, or the Doug Gelvick Memorial Fund in care of First Interstate Bank.
