Bitterroot trips Glacier

DARBY - The Glacier Knights fell to 0-2 in Rocky Mountain Football League play Saturday afternoon, losing 56-0 to the Bitterroot Blaze.

The Blaze led 14-0 and 35-0 after the first two quarters.

Dre Wilson led the Knights in rushing with 28 yards on nine carries. Jason Zielanski had eight rushes for three yards. As a team, the Knights had 25 attempts for 12 yards.

Glacier quarterback Ryan Bennett completed 5-of-10 passes for 60 yards. He was sacked three times and intercepted four times.

The Knights' Brett Wagner had one reception for 36 yards, Shane Bear caught one pass for 11 yards, Thomas Evans had one catch for nine yards and Corey Campbell pulled in one pass for seven yards.

Zielanski led the Glacier defense. The strong safety had 6 1/2 tackles, forced one fumble and had one fumble recovery.

Tony Rojo, middle linebacker, had five tackles and Campbell, corner back, had one interception, which he returned 14 yards.

The Knights have a bye this Saturday. They travel to Missoula to play the Phoenix on April 28 at 1 p.m. in Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

The team's home opener is May 5 versus the Helena Titans. Kickoff is 1 p.m. in Columbia Falls.

The Phoenix beat the Titans 34-12 on Saturday. The Phoenix (1-0) face the Great Falls Gladiators on Saturday in Great Falls.

Glacier opened its season April 7 with a 34-0 loss to the Gladiators in Great Falls.
