It's the same race - First National Bank of Montana Summit Classic 5K run/jog/walk - the same course, it's just being held on a different day of the week this year.

All participants will toe the starting line Sunday at 1 p.m. at The Summit.

This event has traditionally attracted a large following of Flathead Valley runners, joggers and walkers for a given Saturday every April.

"A group decision," said Krista Schaefer, event coordinator, on switching the run's dates.

"It's an experiment. We're waiting to see how the community responds."

So far, so good. Over 400 have signed-up.

"We're hoping to accommodate more families (with a race on Sunday)," Schaefer.

In the past, she said the event has competed with a busy spring sports schedule in the valley that includes soccer, baseball and track.

"We're hoping the numbers will continue to go up," Schaefer said of registration this week. "We had just over 600 last year."

Individuals can sign-up for the race through Friday, 10 p.m., online at summithealthcenter. com or at The Summit.

The entry fee is $5 for those 12-and-under; $15 for those 13-and-over; or $35 per family.

All runners/joggers/walkers will receive a T-shirt and be eligible for one of three raffle prizes (a $250 shopping spree at Snappy Sport Senter, a 90-day membership (single) at The Summit and a large gift basket).
