Close encounters of the geese kind

Several lights in the shape of a "V" appeared in the sky at 5:30 a.m., Kalispell police were told. They reportedly were westbound, but silent. Police cracked the mystery: Hundreds of geese in the sky, reflecting off surrounding light.

Police arrested four people after a fight was reported on Glenwood Drive shortly before midnight. Three were arrested for being minors in possession of alcohol - an 18-year-old woman and 20-year-old man and woman - and a 20-year old man was arrested on a warrant.

"Lots of cement" that a cement truck dumped onto the roadway at Seventh Street East and Second Avenue East was cleared away in short order Thursday afternoon.

Somebody kept knocking on a woman's door on Two Mile Drive in the early morning hours.

Although police found no disturbance between a female and her ex-boyfriend, they did find slashed tires on a rig at the Sixth Street West address.

The Scoreboard Pub owner wanted police to get rid of about 20 people who were fighting in his parking lot. They did.

A man passed out in a booth at Finnegan's restaurant early Friday wouldn't leave, at least not until police arrived.

A backpack, snowboard with bindings, and an iPod were among things reported stolen from vehicles. At the Red Lion Inn, a purse went missing from a housekeeping room.

On Kenway Road, somebody reported a relative forged nine checks.

A boy at the high school was cited for possession of tobacco.

At Woodland Park, a hurt duck was not moving. Parks attendants were caring for the fowl when an officer arrived.
