June (Haycock) Kesler, 93

| August 5, 2007 1:00 AM

June (Haycock) Kesler, 93, passed away July 28, 2007. She was born June 21, 1914, in Panguitch, Utah, to Margaret (Davis) Haycock and Frank Haycock. June graduated with a bachelor's degree in nursing after attending school in Portland.

She started her nursing career in southern Utah, where she met the love of her life, William James Kesler. They were married in the St. George Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple in 1941.

World War II intervened, and Bill was drafted into the Air Force and spent three years in Europe. Not to be outdone, June enlisted in the Army as an Army nurse. After the war, they found the perfect ranch in Montana and moved to Kalispell, where they lived for the next 45 years, raising Hereford beef cattle.

June's nursing career in Montana covered working in hospitals, being the public-health nurse for Flathead County for many years and eventually being the head of the Family Planning Department.

Meanwhile, she baked bread, canned everything, grew huge gardens, cooked for family as well as all the ranch hands, and was the machine that kept everything running smoothly. If all else failed, her sense of humor saw us all through.

In addition to a full career and being a cattle rancher's wife, she also devoted much time and effort to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kalispell, serving in a multitude of positions, ranging from Sunday School teacher to Relief Society president.

Bill died in 1989, and June moved to Spokane shortly thereafter to be close to family.

She is survived by her only child, Molly Kesler Harley, of Spokane; her sister, Elizabeth Child, of Draper, Utah; grandchildren, Brad Harley of Spokane, and Elizabeth Stevenson of Highland, Utah; great-grandchildren, Justin, Logan and Ashley Harley, and Alex, Samantha and Abigail Stevenson; and several nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell.

Ball and Dodd Funeral Home in Spokane has the honor of handling her final arrangements.

This paid obituary is being run again at the request of the family.
