Robert 'Bob' W. Main Sr., 87

Robert "Bob" W. Main Sr., 87, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, in Kalispell.

Bob was born April 26, 1920, in Moravia, Iowa, to Arthur and Bea (Hunt) Main. He graduated from Madison High School in Madison, Wis. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and was in the U.S. Navy, where he saw action in both World War II and the Korean conflict.

In 1949, he married Sara Jane Winfield in Reno, Nev. During the 1950s, Bob worked as an insurance salesman and sales representative for coffee distributors. In the 1960s, he was co-owner of a Dodge dealership and worked for Farmer Brothers Coffee as branch manager in Watsonville, Calif. He retired in 1985.

He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, loved bowling, RV-ing, raising dogs - in particular a golden retriever named Barrie and a terrier named Boomer.

Bob was a member of the Kiwanis Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sara Jane; and a sister, Charlotte Pehlke.

He is survived by a son, Robert W. and Brenda Main Jr. of Temecula, Calif.; a daughter, Connie Lee and Bert White of Kalispell; grandchildren, Paul M. Main and Jared J. White; and nieces, Robin Zaft and Leslie McCoy.

Bob has been cremated and his ashes will be put next to his wife, Sara Jane, at Skylawn Cemetery in San Mateo, Calif.
