Gladys Opal LaFrance, 88

Gladys Opal LaFrance, 88, an Olney resident, "went to be with her Lord" on Dec. 1, 2007.

She was born May 16, 1919, in Kalispell.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mamie Viola (Barsby) Toney; and her father, Warren W. Toney; and by her husband, Donald B. Dickerson.

She is survived by her daughter, Myrtis Bray in Olney; her son, Richard LaFrance in Nevada; grandchildren, Michael Dickerson in Olney, Deborah Chapman in California , and Juanita Winters in Texas; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Gladys moved to California in 1952. She went to nursing school and became a licensed vocational nurse. She worked in southern California and in the Bay area. She then worked at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, Calif., for 30 years.

Gladys returned to Olney in 2002, where she resided next to first, second, third and fourth cousins. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Whitefish Church of God with Rev. Larry Lauterette officiating. Inurnment will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at the Whitefish Cemetery, all under the direction of the Austin Funeral Home in Whitefish.
