Deputies handle dispute over car

Flathead County Sheriff's deputies responded to a residence on U.S. 2 just west of Ashley Lake where two men were disputing the ownership of a car. The original owner showed up to claim the vehicle because the new owner hadn't made a payment. The men were told how to handle the manner in a civil court.

A Lakeside woman called deputies from a neighbor's home to report her boyfriend had knocked her down several times. No one was arrested.

A Somers man saw somebody walking around behind his cabin and called deputies. The suspicious person turned out to be a neighbor.

A loose longhorn steer was spotted on Montana 206. It was gone when deputies arrived.

A fox was caught in a live trap in a pasture near Ashley Creek.

A Bigfork woman told deputies there was a person stalking her.

A man in a yellow pickup truck reportedly followed a woman to her Evergreen workplace. Then he sat there and watched her. He was gone when deputies arrived.

A large black dog escaped from the county animal shelter.

A man and his girlfriend were separated after getting into a fight on Conrad Drive.

A 24-year-old man and an 18-year-old man were arrested for shoplifting at a store on U.S. 2 in Evergreen. They attempted to steal almost $400 in electronic equipment.

A 17-year-old boy was cited for shoplifting after walking around a grocery store on U.S. 2 in Evergreen eating a candy bar for which he failed to pay. He later tried to conceal the wrapper in the juice aisle.

A 47-year-old man was arrested on Montana 35 in Evergreen for partner assault and for an outstanding contempt warrant. He was reportedly yelling and banging on walls after a woman he was arguing with left.

A 25-year-old woman was arrested on Birch Grove Road for partner assault and on an outstanding Columbia Falls warrant. The woman, who had been drinking, reportedly broke a door off the hinges, threw a baby swing across the room, and gave her spouse a bloody lip and scratches near his eyes.
