Margaret Florence Johnston, 76, 'went to live with her Lord' on Dec. 17, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on July 17, 1931, in Lethbridge, Alberta, to Reuben A. and Constance S. Deglow. Margaret and her family homesteaded in Del Bonita, Alberta, until May 24, 1946, when her dad and mother bought a home and acreage in the Lake Blaine area. Margaret graduated from Flathead County High School in 1950, then attended Kalispell Business College.

Upon graduation, Margaret was employed with Treasure State Equipment Company in Kalispell, where she remained a trusted and faithful employee for many years, until the company closed. She then was employed at Louisiana Pacific and, later, numerous housekeeping positions for Kalispell area motels until her health declined last year.

Following a long courtship, she married Archie Johnston in May, 1967. Margaret and Archie made their home on Archie's family homestead off Mooring Road, south of Columbia Falls. After Archie's retirement in the 1990s, they moved to Kalispell.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Bernice Cordier.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Archie; her brother and sister-in-law, Bert and Gloria Deglow; nieces and nephews, Doug Cordier, Tammy Deglow, Becky Adamson and Lance Deglow; numerous grandnieces; and two great-grandnieces.

Graveside services for Margaret will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, at Glacier Memorial Gardens with Rev. Richard Whittet of the Kalispell Foursquare Church officiating. A reception will follow at the Foursquare Church, 2794 U.S. 93 North.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Flathead County Agency on Aging/Meals on Wheels, or the charity of one's choice.
