The Evergreen Rural Fire District has an opening for volunteer service on the board of trustees. Bruce Corpron recently resigned to concentrate on his new business.

The five-member board meets once a month, usually on the third Wednesday of the month. Special meetings may be scheduled as needed.

Trustee positions are open to any resident or property owner within the district.

The district reaches from its border with the City of Kalispell to the Flathead River, going northward along Whitefish Stage Road to the border with West Valley Fire District, to the northern most part of Glacier International Airport. The district is the primary back-up for the airport when needed. In addition, the district is in the beginning stages of having ambulance services available to residents of the district.

The new trustee, appointed by the Flathead County Commissioners, will fill Bruce Corpron's term which expires on May 1, 2009, at which time the appointee is required to file for re-election if he or she chooses. A full term runs for three years.

To apply, send a letter of interest to the Evergreen Rural Fire District P.O. Box 5008, Kalispell, MT 59903.

Fire board members will review the letters and forward the top candidate on to the commissioners for final action.

Deadline to apply is Jan 15. If applying by mail, it should reach the District prior to Jan. 15.
