Karol Jean (Kaus) Powell, 70

Karol Jean (Kaus) Powell, 70, died on Dec. 25, 2007, Christmas morning, surrounded by her children at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

Karol was the third daughter born to Wilbert and Frances Kaus of Kalispell. Karol enjoyed an enchanted childhood in Kalispell and especially loved summers at their cabin on Caroline Point at Flathead Lake. Although she rarely would talk about it Karol was the very first "Cherry Blossom Queen" in the Flathead Valley in 1952.

Karol married Bob Powell Sr., in 1954 and their marriage was blessed with two children, Mary Pat (Clark) of Anaconda and Bob Powell Jr., of Missoula. Bob Powell, Sr., passed away on Nov. 1, 1999.

Karol adored her five grandchildren and was anxiously awaiting the birth of her very first great-grandchild due in February 2008.

Karol loved to plan menus, take care of her home and her Boston Terrier. She enjoyed the Missoula Children's Theatre, Friday Night Club Bridge Group, and traveling to Hawaii and Palm Springs when her health would allow. She had very many friends and loved to talk with each of them on the phone every day.

Karol is survived by her son, Bob, and Charlene, Powell Jr., of Missoula; daughter, Mary Pat, and Allan Clark, of Anaconda; two sisters, Betty Ann Husebye of Indio, Calif,. and Nancy McDermott of Bend, Ore.; grandchildren, Christopher and Miranda Clark of Great Falls, Jonathan Clark of Anaconda, Melissa Powell of Seattle, and Trevor and Matthew Powell of Missoula.

Memorial Services for Karol will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, at the Christian Life Center Chapel in Missoula. A reception will immediately follow. Private inurnment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens Columbarium in Missoula.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to St. Patrick Hospital Heart Institute Foundation Research Fund or to the Rolling Dog Ranch, 400 Rolling Dog Ranch Lane, Ovando, MT 59854.
