He ran through briar, brambles

A Kalispell police officer was checked for injured ribs after a foot chase early Thursday. He was checking on a motel's report of threatening phone calls and a suspicious driver when somebody suddenly bolted down an alley. The runner wouldn't come out of the bushes, so the officer went in after him and took a tumble. The 20-year-old man was charged with possessing dangerous drugs, possessing alcohol as a minor, resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer.

Psychic or suspect? A woman claimed to be a psychic who foresaw a fire in the lobby outside Flathead County Sheriff's Office at 2 p.m. Thursday. The time came and went uneventfully. But detectives have her information and photo.

She went to pick up her boyfriend from the bar, but he started hitting her on the drive home. She kicked him out a few blocks from home, and officers started looking for him in other night spots.

Door-pounding, a stolen bike, and an unwanted return were involved in a disagreement between an ex-husband and ex-wife.

A picnic table and trash cans would have made good ramps for jumping at Lawrence Park, the youths thought. Not a good idea, the officer told them.

Whatever it was that got tossed at the vehicle, it cracked the windshield.

The family stood right there and watched it: The neighbor came out his back door, threw snowballs or something else at their house, and went back inside. There's been a history of animosity and a barking dog there, the resident said.

Western Outdoor found it strange when a package with instructions was left at the store, sealed in a tote bag behind the business.
