Laura Barbara Davey, 86

Laura Barbara Davey, 86, of Lakeside passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at Heritage Place in Kalispell. She was born in Canora, Saskatchewan, the daughter of John and Katherine (Schlachter) Smith. She was raised and educated in Spokane and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane.

On June 20, 1939, she was united in marriage to Jim Davey in Kalispell.

She was a very avid bowler and was a league bowler for many years. She also loved flowers and always had beautiful flower gardens. She was a very fine seamstress, making many clothes for her family. She and Jim loved to travel and made many trips to Hawaii and New Orleans, and traveled to Las Vegas many times.

The biggest love of her life was watching her children and grandchildren grow up and enjoying their many activities. Her fondest memories were of time spent at their home on Flathead Lake. She loved people and being around them. She spent many years as a volunteer at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. She also loved to watch football on television.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kenneth Lewis Davey; two sisters; and one brother.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Davey, of Lakeside; son, Larry Davey, and his wife, Maxine, of Lakeside; a daughter, Darlene Sturzen, and her husband, John, of Kalispell; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Laura will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at Johnson Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Ron Pierce officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be after services at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.

The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to the Northwest Healthcare Foundation, 310 Sunnyview Lane, Kalispell, MT 59901; or to the charity of the donor's choice.
