Elmer B. Weinrich, 97, passed away on Wednesday Feb. 14, 2007, in Kalispell. Elmer was born on Dec. 8, 1909, in Rochester, Minn., where he was raised on the family farm.

Elmer says it seemed to him like his family was raised in two separate groups. The four older children were pretty much on their own during his childhood. However he and his three sibling, Jenness, Anna Ruth and Harvey all had their "childhood" entertainment together.

He loved fishing, bobsledding, ice rafting, boating and swimming at the old swimming hole.

In 1941, Elmer worked as a foreman for the U.S. Forest Service in French Town. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943, where he served as an electrician. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Montana and the Forest Service, where he worked until his retirement in 1970. Elmer married the love of his life, Laniora in 1951. Lamora passed away in 2000. Elmer wished to return to her on Valentines Day, and his wish came true.

Elmer has a daughter named Dixie, who resides in Missoula; and a son, Delmer, from a previous marriage.

Elmer and Lamora were both very active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was a sensitive man, humorous and pleasurable to be with. He had many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday Feb. 19, at the Kalispell Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Whitefish Stage Road. Visitation will take place at 10 a.m. The graveside dedication will take place at approximately 3 p.m. in Thompson Falls. Bishop Mark Robison will preside.
