Orville E. Rogers, 90

Orville E. Rogers, 90, passed away Saturday Feb. 17, 2007, at Lake View Care Center in Bigfork. Orville was born Dec. 2, 1916, in Cohagen, Mont., to Almon and Elsie (Kubowitz) Rogers. He was raised in Terry, where he attended schools.

Orville married Esther Clark on April 7, 1937, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Kalispell. Shortly after being married, they moved to Charlo, where they ran a dairy farm for 30 years. They raised five sons and a daughter. Later they moved to Swan Lake and, with the help of three sons, operated Rogers Guest Ranch. In 1979, they retired to Kalispell.

Orville loved horse racing, breeding paint horses, hunting and fishing. They were very involved with their church and community activities in Charlo.

Orville was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Esther; and a daughter, Kathy.

He is survived by sons, Ken and Tom, both of Bigfork, Bob of Kalispell, Dan of Woodinville, Wash., and Joe of Alta Loma, Calif.; siblings, Juanita Krause of Lavina, Fern Drake of Citrus Heights, Calif., Pearl Foley of San Jose, Calif., and Harvey Rogers of Glendive; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home; rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Vic Langhans serving as celebrant. Burial will be after the service at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
