Harold H. 'Bud' Hembd, 89

| January 2, 2007 1:00 AM

Harold H. "Bud" Hembd was born in Minneapolis on Dec. 22, 1917, to Rudy and Emma Hembd.

When he was a young child, the family moved to Wolf Point, where he lived with his family, including his sisters Viola, Helen, Wanda and Wilda, and brother John. Bud was later stationed in Glacier National Park where he served three tours with the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. He worked for the National Park Service in the early 1940s and moved to Kalispell where he married Juanita Richards in 1943. They raised five sons: Richard, Daniel, Donald, Gary and Dennis.

In 1970, Bud married Alcyone "DeeDee" Wiggins. He retired from Rygg Ford in 1980 and he and DeeDee enjoyed years of gardening, camping and making music with the Montana Fiddlers, Accordion Association and others. Then for several years, they did volunteer work for the Agency on Aging and also worked at the Senior Center in Kalispell.

They retired once more when DeeDee became disabled by a stroke. Bud's new duty for the next few years was to faithfully travel to the nursing home and spend each and every day with his lovely wife until she passed away. Saturday evening, Dec. 30, 2006, Harold left peacefully to once again be with his wife and our Lord Jesus.

Thank you, Dad, for all you taught us about honesty, integrity and fishing.

He is survived by sons, Dan Hembd and Dick Hembd, both of Kalispell, Steve Hembd of Seattle, Gary Hembd and wife Michelle of Polebridge, and Dennis Hembd of Redlands, Calif.; three sisters, Helen Groblebe of Billings, Wanda Anderson of Vaughn, and Wilda Brown of Stanfield, Ore.; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Harold will be Thursday, Jan. 4, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. at Glacier Memorial Gardens with Pastor Ed Nye officiating. There will be no visitation.

Johnson Mortuary & Crematory is caring for Harold's family.
