Warren N. 'Buck' Holman, 83, passed away Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell, from natural causes.

He was born on May 16, 1924, in Independence, Iowa to Floyd and Verba (White) Holman. At an early age, Buck and his family moved to Williston, N.D. where he graduated from high school.

During his early years, he started his cowboy career working for W. D. Davidson on the Bird Head Ranch in the Williston Basin. After graduation, Buck joined the Navy and served four years as a first gunners mate in the Pacific Theater. Upon his return to Williston, Buck married Audrey Nylander, who remained his wife of 52 years.

In 1951, the family moved to Bigfork, where they bought a farm east of the Echo Lake Store. Buck ranched, farmed, and milked dairy cows before becoming a sawyer in 1961. He worked as a sawyer for 20 years. He then began working at the Flathead Lake Lodge where he worked for the last 25 years and was still working at the time of his death.

Buck's faith in Jesus Christ was unwavering and he shared that faith in word and deed. He helped build and was active in both the Little Brown Church and Bethel Chapel in Bigfork. He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey.

Buck was survived by his three children; one daughter, Sharon Kinman, and two sons; Jim Holman and wife, Susan and Randy Holman and wife, Susan, all of Bigfork; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Memorial services for Buck will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at the Little Brown Church in Bigfork, with Rev. Ron Pierce officiating. There will be no visitation. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to the Bigfork QRU, 810 Grand Avenue, Bigfork, MT 59911.

Johnson Mortuary and Crematory is caring for Buck's family.
