David 'Dave' F. Garrison, 78

David "Dave" F. Garrison, 78, of Missoula passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at his home. He was born Jan. 17, 1928, in Sandpoint, Idaho, a son of Henry and Agnes Garrison. At a young age he moved to Paradise with his family and attended school there and also Plains High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received his honorable discharge in 1954.

He logged for a number of years and then went to work for Eddy's Bakery in Missoula driving a truck. In his years driving, he used the C.B. handle of "Day Old Express" and had many friends on his route.

He retired after 27 years and enjoyed yard work and gardening. He took great pride in his yard and flowers. He enjoyed spending special time with his children and grandchildren in recent years and was very proud of them.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ben; an infant sister; and a sister Una.

He is now survived by his wife, Marlene, at the family home; one son, Shawn, and Trena Garrison of Florence; three daughters, Debbie and Neil Johnson of Columbia Falls, Barb Garrison of Missoula, and June and Rick Martin of Missoula; five grandchildren, Ryan, Chelsey and Nicole Martin, and Kyrsten and Katelynn Garrison; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A vigil rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Missoula with Mass of the Resurrection celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at the church. A reception will be afterward in the church social hall, and private family burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory.
