Gene W. Kubes, 48

Gene W. Kubes, 48, died of heart failure Jan. 6, 2007, at the Veterans Hospital in Denver.

A memorial service and reception will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Eagles in Columbia Falls.

He is survived by children, Aleshia and Scott Arensmeyer, Timothy Kubes, and Jenna Kubes, all of Great Falls; his parents, Tony and Helen Kubes, of Columbia Falls; sister, Gerri Gardner, of Bigfork; and grandsons, Brandon and Ethan Arensmeyer.

Gene was born Sept. 29, 1958, and was raised in Whitefish where he graduated in 1976. In 1982, he enlisted in the Navy where he served for 14 years before retiring in 1996.

In 1978, Gene married Robin Thomen and together raised three children before later divorcing.

He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, working with his hands, and fishing.
