No smooth ride across Divide

| January 11, 2007 1:00 AM

It probably wasn't the smoothest ride across the Continental Divide - a 911 call to Flathead County dispatch reported an "unruly, intoxicated male" on an Amtrak train. Whitefish police removed the man from the train and later discovered he is wanted on an arrest warrant out of Mexico.

High winds apparently caused some damage Wednesday across the Flathead Valley, starting with an electrical transformer that exploded on East Oregon Street in Kalispell. Minutes later, there was a report of a tree and power line down in the Coram area. Later, reports were received about downed power lines on West Reserve and Dillon Road in the Trumbull Creek area.

Early on Wednesday, there was a report from Eureka of a vehicle striking a moose near the Stillwater Bar. There was no ambulance transport, but the Flathead County Food Bank was dispatched to pick up the moose carcass.

A deer inflicted serious damage on a minivan Tuesday night on U.S. 93 just south of Kalispell. Air bags were deployed and the driver suffered facial injuries, but did not require transport to the hospital. The deer didn't make it.

Deputies responded Tuesday night to a disturbance on Antelope Trail near Whitefish involving a son-in-law who was "breaking things in the house."

A license plate was reported stolen late Tuesday from a vehicle on the 400 block of White Birch Drive.
