Flathead 4th at swim invitational

MISSOULA - Flathead finished fourth in the combined team totals Saturday at the Missoula Invitational Swim Meet.

Bozeman, with a 941 team total, won the event. C.M. Russell was second, 642, Great Falls High third, 580, followed by Flathead, 484.

This was the first action for FHS in two weeks, and just the second this month.

'Traditionally, this is a poor quality swim meet for us," said FHS coach Paul Stelter.

"We're always very tired going into it."

Stelter said two weeks of intense swim practice took its toll on the squad.

"I was pleased with the swims, the efforts," he said.

"They swam with a lot of heart, swam really hard."

Stelter said Flathead's Brian Hoffman posted a state-qualifying time in the 50 freestyle while "good swims," were turned in by Allison Grubb in the 100 freestyle, Kyle Brady in the 500 freestyle and Sarah Griffith in the 100 freestyle.

Stelter said the FHS relays "looked really great. I thought we swam well."
