Flathead Valley sets temperature record
The Daily Inter Lake
Temperatures across the Flathead Valley reached triple digits Friday, shattering the previous all-time record high on that date.
The mercury in Kalispell hit 100 degrees late Friday afternoon. Until that time, the highest temperature recorded on July 6 was 95 degrees in 1975.
National Weather Service observation stations in Big Arm, Jette (north of Polson) and Round Butte (between Pablo and Ronan) reported reaching 103 degrees. Hot Springs topped out at 105 degrees.
Typically, the Flathead's temperature is in the high 70s at this time of year. Kalispell's all-time high is 104 degrees.
Today the extreme ridge of high pressure causing the heat wave will begin to break down. Highs are forecast to be in the mid- to upper-80s for the next few days.
