Victor 'Vic' Verkuehlen, 93

Victor "Vic" Verkuehlen, 93, passed away June 21, 2007. He was born Nov. 7, 1913, in Bagdad, N.D., attended high school in Niagara, N.D.

He married Ida Crawford In May 1941.

Vic moved to Havre in 1950 and managed a grain elevator. Vic bought a Minneapolis Moline Dealership in 1952. He purchased the Shanty Motel in 1959 and sold it in 1968.

In 1970, he managed the Beaver Creek Park in the Bear Paw Mountains outside of Havre. He also worked for the Parks and Recreation Department in Havre and was on the City Council for several years.

After retiring, he moved to Lakeside where he became very active in the community.

He is survived by his daughter, Jean Smith, of Denver; three grandchildren, Kim Wooding, Dale C. Polson and Darcy McKee; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. July 16 at the Lakeside Community Chapel in Lakeside.
