Jar of nitroglycerin goes boom
Flathead County Sheriff's deputies dealt with a jar with an inch of nitroglycerin in it. A recently widowed woman in Hungry Horse was cleaning out her garage when she came across the jar and called it in. Her husband used to make dynamite in the 1940s. Deputies and an ordinance disposal team from Missoula built a bunker in the woman's driveway and blew it up, but the explosion reportedly wasn't that impressive.
Deputies arrested a 29-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman for partner assault after they got into a fight and started hitting each other on Conrad Drive. Neither was taken to the hospital.
A man who failed to return to from a hike was reported missing in Missoula, Powell, Lake, and Flathead counties. He was found, unharmed, near Big Salmon Lake.
A puppy wandered into a house on West Reserve Drive. Animal wardens took to the shelter.
