John D. "Jack" Reitz, 72, of Cascade, died of natural causes Saturday, July 28, 2007, at his home.
His memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Hillcrest Lawn Chapel. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family at www.schniderfuneralhome.com.
John D. "Jack" Reitz was the beloved husband of Mary Lyn for 46 years; dearest father of Michael (Pam), Marie (Rob) Doremus, Melanie (Paul) Bjelajac, Rita (Bart) Bauer and Matthew (Dawn); adoring grandfather of eight wonderful grandchildren, Nick, Jackie, Ryan, Bailey, Erich, Garrett, Helen and Cooper; dear brother of sister, Mary Reitz, and Jim (Robbie) Reitz; brother-in-law of Sue (Phil) Wenski, Lois (Terry) Richardson and Joan Bradac; and son-in-law of Evelyn Bradac.
Jack was one of the last true cowboys; there "wasn't a story that couldn't be told or a horse that couldn't be rode." His skill and passion for baseball and basketball earned him the nickname "Lefty," which is still recognized 60 years later.
Although a world traveler, he was happiest at Glacier National Park. Family and friends have wonderful memories of shared times outdoors on the river, fishing, hiking, picking fruit and driving "Stubbie."
"We are sure that heaven now has an ample supply of salt for its water conditioners, its cattle and highways, and that no heavenly lawn is cluttered with unsightly branches. Even though his lawn mower and chain saw have gone silent, we know he has not. In fact, he has probably already engaged Jesus in a lively discussion on politics or religion. We'll miss you as our husband, father, and friend."
