Carol Anne Marshall, 58, passed away Thursday night, May 24, 2007, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Carol was born on Nov. 23, 1948, in Lynnwood, Calif., to Kenneth and Nancy Sopp.

She and Pat retired to Columbia Falls in 1993 making many new friends and enjoyed their life in the valley.

She was the strongest person we've ever known. She was caring and devoted to her family and friends; giving without ever expecting anything in return and always finding a way to bring happiness to others. She was a wonderful wife, an incredible mother and a loving grandmother who made each of us a better person.

"We will always be thankful for the time we were able to share with her; she will live on in our hearts forever. With eternal love; Patrick, Steven and Brian."

She is survived by, Patrick Marshall, her husband of 37 years; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Erica Marshall; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Darcie Marshall; her mother, Nancy Sopp; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Kitty Sopp; her three sisters, Terri Sopp-Rae, Laurie Brewer and Dana Hardin; brother, John Sopp; four granddaughters, Ava Marshall, Rylie Marshall, Caitlin Marshall and Alicia Perez; one grandson, Corey Clifford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A small gathering will be held at the Marshall home for family and friends in Montana to remember Carol. A second gathering will occur in California for those who are unable to travel to Montana.

In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund will be set up to be awarded to a local student or the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Carol's name.
