Margaret Viola "Vi" Polensky, 79, passed away June 8, 2007, at her Kalispell residence of cancer. Vi was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Dickinson, N.D., the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Hirsch) Wolf. When she was still quite young, her family moved to Hirschville, N.D. and farmed until she was a teenager. She had many happy memories of those years on the farm.

In 1946, Vi met Fred Polensky. They were married in June of that same year. From this union, eight children were born.

Vi was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, in 1991; her parents; three brothers; two sisters; and a son, Leonard, in 1995.

Vi is survived by her sons, Kenneth and Sue Polensky of Spokane, and Rodney and Kathy Polensky of Kooskia, Idaho; daughters Kathy and Dwight Shurtleff of Kalispell, Linda and Arlie Peterson of Auburn, Wash., Charlene and Ken Logue of Spokane, Cindy and Dave Trosper of Missoula, and Jackie and Mike Manning of Boise, Idaho; brother, Ray Wolf; sister, Shirley Parker of Maine; 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Home Options Hospice or the local Cancer Society. Graveside services for Vi will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Glacier Memorial Gardens with Deacon Fred Topp officiating.

Buffalo Hill Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family.
