Tucker's 63 matches course mark

MISSOULA - Shawn Tucker of Whitefish tied a course record with a round of 63 Thursday during first-day action at the Montana State Men's Amateur Match Play Championship at the Missoula Country Club.

Joe Johnston of Missoula shot a 66 with Josh Gold of Kalispell, Cory Slocum of Missoula and Logan Ward of Missoula next with 70s.

Bob Gray of Missoula and Logan Lindholm of Kalispell followed with 71s.

Thursday's session was an 18-hole stroke qualifier. All action today is match play.

Also, Ryan Santa, Kalispell, 76; William Foust, Ronan, 78; Sam Krause, Whitefish, 78; Roy Stanley, Lakeside, 84; Chris Vidulich, Somers, 89; and Taylor Harrison, Whitefish, 101.

Those shooting 79 or better are in championship flight.
