Buls, Keyser lead after 18 in Buffalo Hill club golf
Ryan Buls blistered the Cameron Nine with a 4-under par 66 Saturday to open a four-stroke lead after the first round of the Buffalo Hill Golf Club Championship.
Buls shot an even par 35 the first time around the Cameron Nine, but birdies on Nos. 12, 16, 17 and 18 brought him home in 31.
Eleven-time champion Dave Morberg fashioned an even par 70 to sit alone in second.
Defending champ Ryan Linnell opened with a 77.
All players will be on the Championship 18 for the final round today.
The highlight of the day was turned in by Jose Chirino. He used a hybrid 2 to ace the 250-yard fourth hole. His tee shot hit the pin in the air and went straight down into the cup. The last time that hole gave up an ace was in 2002.
Kathy Keyser, 2004 club champion, shot an 88 on the Cameron Nine to build a six-stroke lead on Debbie Hadley.
Defending champ Debbie Boreson is not competing this year.
The men's championship flight will begin teeing off today at 9 a.m. while the ladies flight will tee off at 10:30.
