Lois Mae Huffman Loutherback, 74, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2007, at home with her family by her side.

Born in 1932 in Los Animas, Colo., Lois was the daughter of Morris Huffman and Lenna Morrow Huffman. She grew up in Seattle and graduated from high school in Redmond, Ore.

Lois came to the Flathead Valley in 1959. Working as an Avon lady during the 1960s, she came to know many of the faces of the Flathead. It was while working for Dr. Windauer, a local orthodontist, that she became familiar with many of the smiles in the area.

Although hunting and fishing were her pastimes, gardening, cooking and entertaining were her passions. Inviting large groups of family and friends into her home gave her such pleasure. The garden, surrounded by flowers and birds, was her great joy.

Her underlying grit and determination saw her through many of life's challenging situations.

An active member of the Moose Lodge, Lois served its members selflessly for many years with flowers, meals and words of encouragement.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Dannie Loutherback, her brother, Virgil Huffman, and her parents, Morris and Lenna Huffman. She is survived by her children, Jack Lundy, Robert Lundy, Becky West, Renee Yarbrough, Craig Lundy, Gayle Blount, stepdaughter Sharla Loutherback Bailey, adopted children CJ Stenseth, Albert Mohs and Dave Stark, and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at the Christian Center, 255 Summit Ridge Dr., Kalispell. A reception with the family will be held at the Moose Lodge on LaSalle Road, Kalispell, immediately following the service.
