No thanks, officers, he'll walk

| March 7, 2007 1:00 AM

Kalispell police offered the intoxicated man a ride home after he knocked on doors at 4:30 a.m., saying something about being 12 miles from home. He refused the ride. Maybe he needed to walk it off.

Thievery, it was. That's what the man said when he reported he'd given $2,500 to a man doing work for him and told the worker to deposit it into the man's account. He came back to town, he said, and both the money and worker were gone.

A 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia.

A drunk in the drive-through ended up as a 21-year-old man with a DUI.

Boys who looked to be 13 years old were a source of aggravation. Two of them rang a door bell and banged on the door before taking off running. And three harassed a dog while cutting through a yard.

On Stratford Drive, skateboarders used jumps in the middle of the street. On Ninth Avenue West, loud drums and music were being played outside. Must be spring.

The restraining order should not be against him, he said, because it was the other person who assaulted him. He had his chance to say so in court, police told him, but he was a no-show.

A report of a small brown dog by the curb actually was a deceased cat, which was disposed of by the animal warden.
